Company Profile
|
Mayne-Wilson Heritage Landscapes is a firm of landscape architects based in Paddington, Sydney, specialising since 1992 in the assessment, conservation and management of heritage landscapes - mostly historic parks and large gardens, but also the grounds of large heritage sites, ocean baths, dry stone walls, and places such as Tamarama Gully. For these we undertake thorough historical research, followed by conservation management plans that recommend conservation policies and management strategies, plus maintenance schedules. We follow up many of these reports with heritage landscape master plans - e.g. for Victoria Barracks (Sydney), HMAS Creswell (Jervis Bay) and RAAF Airbase (Richmond). Currently, we are specialising in preparing heritage and/or environmental impact assessments of development proposals affecting heritage landscapes, sites and precincts. |

IIn addition to these, we prepare landscape character studies, as well as visual quality and impact assessments. As principal author of the Heritage Branch's manual on heritage curtilages, we are well qualified to determine curtilages for heritage places. Our Director, Warwick Mayne-Wilson, also serves as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court on heritage landscape, visual impact, and curtilage issues. |

Ari Anderson, also a Registered Landscape Architect with a postgraduate diploma in heritage conservation, does our research, CAD design drawings and documentation. If required, we engage specialists in other fields on contract. |

Our firm frequently links up with conservation experts from other professions - e.g. architects, planners, engineers and archaeologists - in large multi-disciplinary projects involving heritage landscapes and their buildings. Our recent study on the settlement and development of Tamarama Gully and Beach near Sydney was highly commended by the National Trust in its Heritage Awards of April 2010. |
